BOARD MEMBERS' DUTIES AND COMMITMENT
As a member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' board of trustees,
 I pledge to do the following to the best of my ability:

Fiduciary Duty to the Organization

1. Promote UACDL’s mission of maintaining the integrity and independence of criminal defense lawyers and of protecting fundamental individual rights, in all of my professional and personal affairs.
2. Regularly attend board meetings, seminars, and other events.
3. Serve as an ambassador for UACDL in my professional and personal capacities.
4. Recruit and mentor new members and board members.
5. Join UACDL at the highest membership level I can, based on my finances.
6. Devote as much time as I can reasonably offer to accomplish the organization's goals as directed by the board of directors.

Time Commitment

1. Attend scheduled monthly board meetings except in rare circumstances where there is an unavoidable conflict.
2. Offer my ideas, input, and/or opinions during those meetings.
3. Inform the President or Executive Director beforehand, and as soon as practicable, if I cannot attend a board meeting or organization event, fulfill assignments, or perform other responsibilities.
4. Miss no more than two board meetings per year as required under Article V, section 7 of the UACDL by-laws.
5. Complete my term as board member or inform the board if my circumstances do not allow me to fulfill my duties as a board member.

Talent Commitment

1. Read board meeting minutes and actively participate on the board.
2. Supervise, assist, and serve committees.
3. Volunteer for, accept, and fulfill assignments in a timely manner.
